Rundwanderweg Moor mile

The history of Bad Meinberg is deeply rooted in the wholesome sulfur Moor, which was mined on the outskirts of the spa resort already since 1820 for the treatment. Find out more about the Moorbau and sustainable reconstruction worth protecting bog habitats.

The Moor Mile offers a fascinating landscape and a haven of tranquility. Towards the blue "V" of the vital world of hiking you will find a small path as circular trail through the meadows and fields of this particular landscape. Special tours allow you to access to the former peat mining area.

Start and finish of the 3.8 km-stretch tour is the bus station Bad Meinberg. Within approximately 1.20 hrs. You hike a height difference of 59 m.

On the extension of this Moor mile you reach the downtown Horn with its historic town center and the castle.


Another tourist attraction will be built with the Moor-experience-trail, which is realized under the hiking center of excellence by funding from the Federal-State Joint Task "Improvement of regional economic structure" (GRW). Hikers are here to run a specially designed path into and through the peat and the fantastic and mystical moorland can develop sustainably for themselves.
