The beginnings Meinbergs goes back to the year 978, the oldest messages about the Meinberger mineral springs originate from 1676. Today the Staatsbad Meinberg has with its sulfur Moor and with its carbonic acid and mineral springs many natural remedies, especially against rheumatism, cardiovascular disease, nervous and gynecological disorders. A historic spa gardens (Kurpark) and modern spa facilities offer the guarantee of recovery and successful treatment in a beautiful landscape.


In Belle, joyful festivals are celebrated. A glance in the event calendar is always worthwhile. Belle counts to the original communities Lippes, the first written reference comes from the year 1118. Belle is now a modern rural community and a popular place with its own primary school, sports hall, swimming pool, fire house and a buzzing social life.


Bellenberg has always been considered as the preferred residence. Megalithic tombs on the top of the mountain and discoveries in the Feldmark witness early settlements, the old Germanic God Somemrgott Balder was the eponym of this town. Today, the Silveer village is the ideal honored starting point for extensive hiking and cycling. A jewel of the theater Volkstheater is the lippische nature stage. Plan a trip to Norderteich, enjoy nature and relax. Billerbeck in a scenic location at the Norderteich was mentioned  historically in 1115 in a goods classification of Corveyer abbot Erkenbert. The village around the bird and nature reserve Norderteich is until today a popular excursion and hiking destination with excellent dining establishments.

Feldrom, Veldrom and Kempen

Visit the interesting tractor museum with the Museum Cafe at the campsite in Kempen. Enjoy the great view from the Velmerstot as a reward for climbing the 468 meters high mountain. Where the Teutoburger Forest and the Eggegebirge seamlessly merge into one another, in the Central Valley at the foot of Velmerstot (468m above sea level) and the headwaters of the Silberbaches lying the resorts Veldrom, Feldrom and Kempen close together.


A visit to the beautifully restored windmill from 1847 is worth the trip. It is an observation tower and popular restaurant in a wonderful landscaped location. Named after Fissenknick in 1862. The expansion of a connection road across the grounds of the owner Fissemoeller where they had to make a bend, gives the place its name. Not far from the mill between Fissenknick and the town of Bad Meinberg, you can hike the "Meinberger Eichholz". If you use one of the many trails you can hike to the mill and lodge for a culinary experience with "no regrets".


Hike the beautiful landscape around Fromhausen. Our tourist information will reveal the most beautiful hiking trails. The beginnings of this outspoken "Einwegedorfes" settled experts in the period around 500 AD. at. In 1390  the register listed here ten taxable “Kolonate” with 87 inhabitants,. The   village is still known today for the village character and offers in scenic surroundings idyllic spots for hiking and housing.


Holzhausen-Externsteine is because of its proximity to the Externsteine, a bizarre rock formation with a height up to 40 m, a popular tourist and holiday destination. The beginnings of the town dates back to the 6th century. Since 1987, Holzhausen-Externsteine is a "certified fresh air resort" and invites through the magnificent setting, and is surrounded by deep forests and conservation areas for relaxing vacation days with Kneipp and Schroth treatments.


Discover the many historical witnesses, for example the historic observatory on top of the mountain Ziegenberg, a tower-ruin amidst the forest. Heesten is first named and documented in 1142.  Heesten has retained its village charm over the centuries. The site is still strong embossed by historical buildings, especially well-preserved courtyards and ecologically valuable limestone walls. A beautiful village structure characterizes the present village community life.


Take a journey through time with the "historical tour" and also visit the centrally located Castle Museum. Horn is one of the oldest cities in the Lipperland and is called "the crown of the Lipper country" since ages ago. In 1248, Horn was first mentioned as a town. Horn was a founding city of the noblemen of Lippe. The well-preserved, historic city center with old city walls and lovingly restored houses still shows the historical past and invites you to stroll. In addition, Horn is a modern business location with an emphasis in wood processing.


Let yourself be captivated during a hike in the romantic Silberbachtal from Silbermühle till the Kattenmuehle by the unspoiled vegetation. The town Leopoldstal was founded in 1500 AD with "Rodensike", the current Gut Rothensiek. Leopoldstal offers visitors time away from the crowds with  lots of nature, peace and relaxation. The close Silberbachtal is known as one of the most beautiful valleys of the Teutoburg Forest.

The first mention of Schmedissen comes from the year 1015 and tells of a Edelhof- a bigger farm with four carriages. The district has evolved since then and is now primarily a residential area. Schmedissen is located conveniently near the access road to Detmold.


A beautiful outdoor swimming bath invites you for a visit. The village Vahlhausen was mentioned as early as the period 822-876 AD in the documents of the monastery Corvey. The oldest district Horn-Bad Meinberg's celebrated in 1997 its 1150th anniversary. The origin of the village consists of four courtyards dating from the Middle Ages. The town is still an active village today and awakes again among others through the founding of a young heritage association in 1996 of a new living village community  with neighborhood festivals, farm parties and Community environmental actions.

Wehren, with the village "Hollhoefen", was first mentioned in the year 1173. This village still has a rural character today and is situated in a very scenic location.



It's worth to visit the beautifully designed village square of Wilberg. Although the oldest written evidence of Wilberg is only from the 1392 , archaeological finds interpret a much earlier Germanic settlement as early as the Iron Age. Today the village square forms with the nearby Inn as the social center of the village. Among other things, there are two beautiful, old watermills to admire.
